English cocker spaniel are trained more of their hunting instinct than do the American Cocker Spaniels and require a few exercise. Firstly exhibited in USA in 1880, hold the popularity among most of the breeds, American variant is descended from English Cocker Spaniels which were introduced in late 1800s, the Americans were interested in a smart hunter of quail and other birds, the history of developing this variant is not well clear but some ideals suggest a possible cross of English Cocker Spaniels with other smaller and toy spaniels to reduce in size but compatible in strength. The two English and American Cockers were separately distinguished and recognized by AKC in 1935, this led the American variant to heights of popularity all around the USA. This breed holds uniqueness being available in any solid color other then black. This dog achieved fame in England after registration with English Kennel Club in 1958 and holds great appreciation as family companion despite of its original use.

Temperament

The breed is pleasing and happy, quite playful, amiable, sweet and submissive, additionally intelligent and sensitive, stay eager to entertain and responsive to family requirements. Originally it is a hunter of opportunity, yet well appreciated due to its devoted companionship.
