Newfoundland dog s are strong, sturdy and energetic breed. They are quite serious, bold, humble, lively and patient dogs. The dog is moderate in its temperament. Temperament

The temperament of the breed is exemplary; they stay calm, firm, fearless and patient. Their intelligence, cleverness and alertness are also amazing. 

They are devoted to family and remain loyal. Indoors, they are quiet house mate, kind to children, affectionate to other pet animal. The breed is daring and will oppose any threat subjected to compromise the safety of the house members. The breed, Newfoundland dogs are not barker, healthy and large size is often proven enough for the intruders to threaten them. Generally male dogs become aggressive when female dogs are present, but for Newfoundland this reason is not working, they stay calm in this situation as well. This large giant needs socialization to make the environment of house composure. The degree of socialization could be felt when you see a cat sleeping aside of Newfoundland dog in your house.

The tolerance of this breed is remarkable when plying with children, they gently ignores the mistakes or mischievous of naughty children to unlimited extent. Older kids usually get engaged in play with dog, the dog itself is eager for this. During play, the dog constantly confirms that no child is under the risk of any harm. On swimming pools, it could assist the life guards in rescuing the victims. The breed is exploring in nature, they love travelling and willing to ride in motors and cars, but off course, they need a seat to occupy.

  1. The Newfoundland dog is of large size, they require more space to accommodate in, apartment life is not much suited for them. They need a little more space.
  2. Working dog always requires more activities to perform. Daily exercise should be planned to keep them busy and to satisfy both mental and physical stimulations. The Newfoundland dogs are heavy droolers, if you don’t like this, better change your option.
  3. Groom the skin regularly, you can do yourself very well but it is time consuming. You can consult some specialist assistant for this job.
  4. The Newfoundland dogs are somehow sensitive to temperature, they have records of heat stroke, therefore, arrange shaded area for them, air conditioned boundary or well ventilated spaces would be the best options in hot summer.
