This breed is rather recent origin that was bred in Germany in 1860s most probably crossing the German Pinschers, Rottweilers, old shorthaired shepherds, Beaucerons, Greyhounds and Manchester Terriers. A German tax collector named Louis Dobermann was the creator of this mix. German tax collector Dobermann used to visit frequently bandit-infested regions and made decision to create a bodyguard and watchdog with capability to handle any situation that may arise. This breed after shortened by on letter N named its originator. In 1876 the Doberman was first presented at a dog show. It was an immediate a huge success. In 1908 it was recognized by AKC. Temperament
