This breed is a result of several crosses between Bulldogs and Terriers. The Bull Terriers the terrier Dog breeds were initially popular as sporting dog and was developed in many solid colors. During 1860s the James Hinks, an English dog dealer developed the pure white dog by different crosses. The breed was known as White Cavaliers in its early development as white dog. The dog was again crossed with Staffordshires to gain some colored varieties. The dog was used as ratter, herder, watchdog and guard besides a fashionable companion of royalties of that time. The Miniature Bull terrier is developed to shape the dog for a compact size, this miniature variety holds all qualities of standard Bull Terrier. The Standard variety was officially recognized by AKC in 1885, however Miniature Bull Terrier was recognized very late in 1991.
Bull Terrier the terrier Dog is medium size dog with heavy physique. The body is solid, substantial with strong muscles; the legs seem to be a little short and wide apart. The dog appears rectangular in shape being longer in length than in height. Training on special lines could result in a well appreciated dog at agility, show rings and competitive obedience. Healthy and energetic Bull Terrier needs healthy exercises for its physical and mental stimulation. Long walks and running in addition to playful activities in yard are necessary otherwise the dog would get destructive, such high energy level would be a prominent danger to young kids if the dog is not satisfied by its physical exertion. The instinct of terrier would cause healthy chase to small animal like rabbits, hamster event cats. Place your non-canine pets and other small animals in separate accommodation. A fenced yard or close boundary is recommended for them either keeps them leashed. Hold the lead while walking to avoid unwanted escape, chase or fight.
The breed is not suited to apartment livings as the exercise requirements are stringent, the Standard Bull Terrier is comfortable with outdoor life, however, Miniature would have its maximum time indoors. The dog would be comfortable in a house sharing an opening to a yard. The breed is clean and requires minimal grooming.
