The mutual cross between Arabian Greyhound and thick coated Russian breed resulted in the development of borzoi dog. This breed had been bred by Russian nobilities for many hundred years. The dog was aimed to hunt fox, hares and wolves in Russian fields. Being a hound breed, they were used in the form of packs that may contain hundred dogs in a pack. AKC recognized this breed in 1891 and placed in hound group. The breed remained famous with the name of Russian Wolfhound across the United States till 1936. With greater use of this dog across the world majorly as companion, its temperaments are improved and became more gentle.

They need healthy exercises, accompany them in long walks, jogs and running but remember hold the leash and lead.
