Golden retriever breed is a strong and athlete dog that is capable of carrying profound game over water and land. In late 1800s it was originated in Scottish Highlands and it was developed by Lord Tweed mouth by mixing the real yellow Flat Coated Retriever (now extinct) with Tweed Water spaniel. Initially this dog was known as Golden Flat Coat and now it is Golden Retriever and known by this famous name. In present days Golden Retriever breed is most famous and popular dog breed. It is not only popular as a family companion but also for hunting, obedience competitions, tracking and bird dog on ground and in water equally. Some other talents of this great breed are service dog for the disabled, narcotics detection, therapy dog and a guide for the blind. In 1925 initially Golden Retrievers were recognized by American Kennel Club.

Temperament

It is particularly remarkable and must be remembered that it is volatile as puppies and may knock over children accidently while playing. In a well bred Golden retriever aggressiveness is not common but incorrect breeding may raise the chances of aggressiveness. Even though, Golden Retrievers are people oriented dogs that like to have as much as possible contact with humans. If most of time left it alone may lead it to a behavioural disorder. A loneliness imposed by the family members on this dog for long period of time can too unhappy in consequences. The Golden retrievers may have behavioural issues like separation anxiety. It never makes a best of guard dog. Though, they bark at strangers but looks to be more involved to have some meetings with them and get their friendship other than protecting the family against them. They are not only affectionate but loving and loyal that strives to please their family.
